Strategic Support
Planning for father and male inclusion is a key step in ensuring services meet their statutory obligations.
Whilst many organisations such as health trusts and children's services directorates recognise the importance of fathers and men in improving outcomes for children and young people, this work is not always reflected and supported by key strategies and policies.
Children and Young People's plans, parenting strategies and adult health plans and strategies should recognise the need to provide services which meet the different needs of men and women. Youth services should be responsive to the support needs of young fathers and offender support services must recognise the significant role that fathers and male carers play in prevention and support for young offenders.
Fathers Plus has supported policy development and facilitated strategic change in local authorities, health and partner organisations across the UK.
